Sanford Aaron has been with the firm since 2008. He is a tax attorney that specializes in commercial transactions, entity and business structuring, real estate transactions, buying and selling of businesses and start-ups. Sanford also provides mentoring and consulting services to his start-up clientele.
Along with his duties as a practicing attorney, Sanford Aaron has acted as principal and founder of a venture capital firm, Envy Capital and Avenue Commercial Real Estate, LLC, a commercial real estate brokerage firm. Along with consulting on raising funds for a variety technology, medical device and green technology companies, Sanford has used his skill set to structure such opportunities, negotiate license agreements and other agreements on behalf of the funded companies, provide legal and tax advice and act as a consultant and mentor.
Sanford Aaron’s career began in 1994 in Washington, DC working for KPMG in the National Tax Office working on partnership and real estate acquisitions in the pass-through entity division. Sanford has been involved in commercial real estate transactions on many different levels. He has participated in all aspects of the acquisition and disposition of over 2 million square feet of commercial real estate and several multifamily properties across the country. He has negotiated leases for office space with the Big Three Automakers, performed due diligence work on the acquisition of regional shopping malls for The Taubman Company, and provided tax planning and entity structuring for the acquisition and development of an entire city in Northern Virginia. Sanford has also been published in the Journal of Real Estate Taxation.
Sanford served as in-house counsel for a Midwest-based real estate management and development company, acted as the Director of Taxation for Soave Enterprises, LLC, a privately held company whose major investments included real estate developments and operating companies (beer distributorships, national and international scrap metal concerns, car dealerships, etc.). After his tenure at Soave Enterprises, Sanford was the Vice President of Business Development for the Hayman Company, a national real estate management and investment company. His duties included finding, underwriting, funding and closing retail, office, multifamily and industrial properties across the United States.
