Ian L. Gross is a member of the firm whose practice is focused on real estate, business law, and cannabis. Clients value Ian’s practical, responsive, and results oriented approach, whether in litigation or in transactional settings. Ian has a national real estate practice in which he represents a wide variety of developers, owners, and operators, focusing in the areas of multifamily, retail, manufactured housing, hospitality, office and industrial. Ian regularly assists clients with acquisitions, financing, and dispositions, and the negotiation and drafting of commercial leases across a variety of asset classes. Ian also has significant experience working with cannabis entrepreneurs ranging from local startups to established multistate operators. In that capacity, Ian has successfully counseled clients on a wide range of real estate and commercial cannabis transactions throughout North America. With a background in complex commercial litigation, Ian also handles real property and business disputes, and acts as outside general counsel for a number of Michigan-based companies.
Before joining Joelson Rosenberg, Ian gained significant experience in complex real property litigation at a prominent litigation firm in Farmington Hills, Michigan. While there, Ian successfully represented a large utility company in litigation related to the construction of a $500 million dollar utility project spanning throughout Southeast Michigan.
Ian earned his J.D., cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis, where he attended on a full academic scholarship. Ian was on the Dean’s List all three years and earned multiple advocacy and writing awards in regional and national moot court competitions.
